This is only a simulation

Starting next week, I’ll start a new column appropriately titled “Epic’s Enter the Matrix”, in which I will list dreams I’ve had the past week. Readers will comment on Cum Laude’s site and vote for which dream I will try to reenact in real life in some sort of way. It can be something as simple as I thought I was car sales man in Walmart to something a little more complicated to pull off like I lived in the ocean. Along with trying to reenact my subconscious movies I will also attempt to write my wrongs. For example, in a dream I reacted to something negatively or out of anger, when reenacting, I will attempt to act accordingly in such a situation. The majority of the new column will be writing about said experience. Giving as much detail as possible and my attempt to recreate it in the “real world”. The last part of each column will be a small list of dreams I’ve had during that week. I submit Wednesday. WE publish Friday at the latest, I’ll give votes until Sunday, possibly Monday before attacking my task. I chose this for several reasons. 1) I’ve been meaning to keep a dream diary, this will be a little more incentive to do so. 2) I wanted some reader interaction. 3) We thought it would be really cool. Once I work the kinks out of the new format, there will eventually be video submissions of my column. Thank you to everyone who has supported Cum Laude Weekly. We are closing in on one year of submissions and sharing this art with readers. We’re looking at taking things to the next level for you guys. My first augumented dream will actually be chosen by Cum Laude Weekly’s very own Sunny Alexander. So tune in next week to read about me bending the lines of reality if don’t forget to vote for the dream you want to come true!

Thanks again everyone. I’ll see you where sleep meets your mind!

Time

I end each week feeling like I could have done more, if only I clone myself , because every minute is accounted for. Way too much to do and not enough time in the damn day, and most of the people I know , feel the exact same way. I'm not alone in this boat, too bad the waters rising, and after everything I've seen and read , nothing is surprising!

Through my words

I’ve started the never ending process of finding myself again. When I write a poem, an article, or even a short story, I discover something new about myself that I didn’t previously know. Poetry has given me a sense of strength; a sense of control over my life. I have created friendships so powerful; I didn’t even realize what I was missing. With April being National Poetry Month, I wanted to take a moment to honor something that has inevitably changed my life for the better. Poetry has given me an outlet to truly understand who I am and what I want out of life. For those who think they can’t write, let me say this: if you have one thought or opinion at all, you can write poetry. Not only can you write poetry, you can write amazing poetry. Words are subjective. Words have a way of representing who we are as individuals. By staying true to who you are and writing what you think, your words come to life. I’ve never been one to force writing or creativity upon anyone. I believe creativity is something we all have, but only some of us desire to find and utilize that inner power. The past nine months my life has been rough. I’ve gone through a break-up, struggles as a mother, losses of friends, new beginnings, and the one thing that always remained consistent were the sturdiness of words when I needed support. I utilize my creativity to better myself, and I challenge anyone who is reading this to do the same. Become who you are supposed to be and write a little poetry! With that, you may discover things about yourself you never imagined to be true. Happy National Poetry Month.

of the Week

Mute Haikus

Ghandi once whispered

Secrets to the universe.

Shame no one listened

You are the light through

my window, the morning smirk

across destiny.
